EMERGE

East European Research and Innovation Enterprise (EMERGE) is a consultancy company offering to private and public clients advanced and highly qualified scientific and technical support in the fields of occupational, consumer and environmental safety assessment of chemicals and new technologies (e.g. nano and biotechnologies). Its mission is to transfer to European consortia and the private sector the knowledge and experience of its founders acquired from over a decade of research and development of dose-response, exposure and risk modelling tools and software-based systems for risk assessment and management of chemicals and nano(bio)materials used in industrial settings, consumer products and medical applications. This expertise was gained through the participation of EMERGE staff in many EU FP7 and H2020 research projects such as NanoInformaTIX, Gov4Nano, GRACIOUS, REFINE, caLIBRAte, SUN, BIORIMA, MARINA, ITS-NANO, ENPRA, etc.

Role in the project:

EMERGE acts as a SUNSHINE beneficiary. Its contribution is expected mainly in WPs 1, 4, 5, 8 and 9. In these WPs, the company will contribute to the development and implementation of the SIA e-infrastructure (WP1), the grouping and read-across approaches (WP4), and the criteria and guiding principles for sustainable by design (WP5). In addition, EMERGE will contribute to the SUNSHINE stakeholder engagement, communication and dissemination activities (WP8). Dr. Danail Hristozov from EMERGE is scientific coordinator of SUNSHINE (WP9).
