Encapsulae S.I.

Encapsulae S.L., is a spin-off technology-based company of the Institute of Ceramics and Glass, a research centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The company is located in Castellón de la Plana (Spain) and its main target market is the food packaging sector. The company's activity sector is the development and production of functional additives for plastic packaging, increasing food safety, extending the shelf life of food and accelerating the biodegradation of packaging once they have been used.

Role in the project:

Encapsulae participate in SUNSHINE with the following task:

• Contributing with high aspect ratio nanomaterials (HARNs) for characterization and toxicity studies (WP2).

• Definition of evaluation methods and performance indicators for HARNs (WP5).

• Safe by materials design strategies implementation and demonstration (WP5).

In addition, ENCAPSULAE is responsible for providing these materials to WP2 for testing of the effectiveness of the safe by material design modifications, as well as for providing case-study-specific information for modelling purposes (WP3), and for developing and testing the grouping and read-across approaches (WP4).

ENCAPSULAE will also participate in the project’s Industrial User Committee and will support the testing of the usability/feasibility of the SIA e-infrastructure from an industry perspective (WP1). In addition, ENCAPSULAE will contribute to the stakeholder engagement, dissemination and exploitation activities of the project (WP8).
