ITENE

Instituto Tecnológico del Embalaje, Transporte y Logística (ITENE) is the specialist Technological Centre in R & D in packaging, logistics, transport and mobility. Its mission is to generate scientific and technological knowledge and added value to companies through the implementation of research and innovation in new products, including nanomaterials. ITENE provides business solutions with an integrated view of the supply chain. The centre has advanced facilities and a multidisciplinary team of researchers and technicians with a proven and constantly evolving. Our Nanosafety research group has wide experience in projects related to the risk assessment and management of engineered nanomaterials (ENMs). ITENE coordinated the FP7 project NanoMICEX, which finalised in March 2015, being focussed on Risk Mitigation, and is currently coordinating the projects NanoMONITOR (LIFE) and NanoDESK (SUODE), both focussed of the development of tools to promote the safe use of ENMs.

Role in the project:

ITENE acts as the leader of WP5. In WP5, ITENE coordinates the development of the SUNSHINE safe by material and process design strategies and their validation in the project’s case studies. In addition, ITENE leads the development of risk control strategies and contributes to the development of the criteria and guiding principles for Sustainable by Design (WP5).
