Workshop: SUNSHINE Foresight Framework

This is an INVITATION ONLY workshop.

The H2020 SUNSHINE project SIA (Safe Innovation Approach) E-infrastructure aims to foster dialogue, collaboration and information exchange between various stakeholders and provide the tools and data needed to develop Safe and Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) strategies for materials, products and processes focusing on multicomponent nanomaterials (MCNMs), though also applicable to non-nano AdMa.

An integral part of the E-infrastructure is the SUNSHINE Foresight Framework. To facilitate the development of SSbD strategies, a SUNSHINE stakeholder workshop has been prepared with as main goal to gather expert opinions and ideas on the SUNSHINE Foresight Framework. This comprehensive Framework will enable Regulators, Industry and other stakeholders to participate in a structured dialogue within a Trusted Environment to identify early warning signals of upcoming trends and challenges in industry as well as planned policy developments, in a beneficial symbiosis that will drive forwards responsible innovation as cornerstone to the Green Deal.

To achieve this, we need your support.

During the workshop, we would like to present our approach and collect your opinion on the draft Foresight Framework.

In this workshop you will learn and discuss:

  • The Regulatory Preparedness Concept

  • How the SUNSHINE Foresight Framework can help stakeholders needs for early warnings identification

  • How the Foresight Platform and the Trusted Environment are interrelated.

Who should attend?

  • National and regional regulators

  • Industry representatives in nanotechnologies and advanced materials

  • Policy makers

  • NGOs

  • Representatives of Standardization bodies

SABYDOMA’s 2nd Legal Workshop on Safe-by-Design

The SABYDOMA project, funded by the EU H2020 programme, is delighted to invite you to its 2nd legal workshop on Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD), taking place on 5th June 2023 from 14:00 until 18:00h CEST at Minatec (Grenoble, France), on the first day of the nanoSAFE 2023 conference. Online participation will also be possible.

While the by-design paradigm now seems to be integrated in regulatory policies, legal challenges have yet to be addressed. This workshop will be the first to focus on potential liability issues (Asia/EU/US) and the global regulatory dimension of the by-design approach.

With expert lawyers and scientists from different regions of the world among the speakers, the workshop will cover the legal aspects of the SSbD approach in the nanotechnology sector, expanding out to “by-design” approaches relevant in other technological industries.

The workshop is open to scientists, industry and commercial managers, public policy stakeholders, lawyers (in-house, in a public administration or in private practice), compliance officers, patent attorneys, trade associations and NGOs representatives and all other stakeholders having interest in the safe design of (nano)technologies.

Attendance (in-person or online) is free upon prior registration. Please register by 26th May at the latest.

CUSP workshops on human health risk assessment frameworks for MNPs

CUSP-Research.eu invites you to take part in the third of a three-part series of workshops on the health risk assessment of micro- and nanoplastics

About the workshop:

This third workshop, organized by WG5 Risk Assessment and PlasticsFatE, will have a more practical focus.

After a brief review of the results of the first and second workshops in terms of data needs, the different CUSP projects will describe the types of data needed for tools to characterize MNP risks. The point is to capture the specific requirements and have a structured discussion to determine if the tools are compatible with the data produced or if there are gaps.

Sometimes the data will need to be processed first before it can be used in the tools. In addition, the quality of the studies in which the data were produced also plays a role. These two topics will be addressed in the second part of the workshop. A third presentation in this session will give an introduction to possible data sources and the available data types and definitions.

Registration:

https://bit.ly/CUSP_WS3_Registration

This event is free of charge and open to all interested stakeholders including researchers, those involved in policy-making, and anyone interested in the risk assessment of MNPs.

A Zoom meeting link will be sent to you automatically upon registration and proceedings will be shared afterwards.

Agenda:

The agenda for the workshop is below and also available here

If you have any questions about the event, please contact bernd.giese@boku.ac.at or Lesley.tobin@optimat.co.uk

About CUSP

There is widespread scientific evidence on the ubiquity of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) in the environment around CUSP. The tiny particles which result from the degradation of larger plastics or which are manufactured and added to products for different purposes find their way into the human body through the food we eat, the water we drink or the very air we breathe. Yet, so far, we know little about the risks they pose to human health.

For this reason, the European Commission has decided to fund five research projects - AURORA, ImpToxPLASTICHEAL, PlasticsFatE and POLYRISK - that together form the European Research Cluster to Understand the Health Impacts of Micro- and NanoPlastics: CUSP. They will collaborate in gathering policy-relevant scientific data to improve the risk assessment of MNPs on human health.

How to Engage:

Follow CUSP on Twitter and LinkedIn and visit the CUSP website to learn more about their aims, results, and opportunities to engage.

36th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology

Conference Series LLC LTD invites all the participants from all over the world to attend “36th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology” in London, which includes prompt keynote presentations, Oral talks, Poster presentations and Exhibitions.

Nanomaterials are the elements which has at least one spatial measurement in the size range of 1 to 100 manometers. Nanomaterials can be produced with various modulation dimensionalities. It can be distinct nanostructure such as quantum dots, nanocrystals, atomic clusters, nanotubes and nanowires, while gathering of nanostructures includes arrays, assemblies, and super lattices of distinct nanostructure. The chemical and physical properties of nanomaterials can considerably differ from the bulk materials or atomic-molecular of the same composition. Uniqueness of structural features, dynamics, chemistry, response and energetics of nanostructures constitutes the base of nanoscience. There are numerous areas of concern in the nanomaterials market which are predictable to be explored in the approaching years, for instance, nanoparticles or nanocrystals of metals and semiconductors, nanowires, nanobiological systems and nanotube. We are delighted to invite you all to join & register for the international conference on “36th International Conference on Nanomaterials & Nanotechnology” which is going to be organized during February 15-16, 2023 London, UK.

The 2nd Safe and Sustainable by Design Stakeholder Workshop will take place on 22 March 2022. It will be a full day meeting online. The aim will be to present the draft methodology to define SSbD criteria for chemicals and materials. In order to allow you to prepare for the workshop, draft documents will be circulated via this SSbD stakeholder list by 14 March 2022. There will be a deadline to provide written comments after the workshop until 4 April 2022.

At this stage, we would like to ask you to express your interest in participating in the event by replying to RTD-SUSTAINABLE-BY-DESIGN@ec.europa.eu by 21 January 2022 close of business. Depending on the number of responses, we might have to select one or two (maximum) representatives per organization. This would allow a balanced representation of stakeholders and a better management of the discussions. The agenda and connection details will be circulated in due time.

For further clarifications please write to RTD-SUSTAINABLE-BY-DESIGN@ec.europa.eu
